Prodigy Audio NB5-15D2 / NB5-15D4 15" 1200 Watt RMS Subwoofer is built for shoppers who want serious low-end authority, strong motor control, and a subwoofer that can handle real power while still keeping sound quality in the conversation. Sold by AudioSellerz.com, this 15" Prodigy Audio subwoofer is part of the NB5 Series and is rated at 1200 watts RMS, with available dual 2 ohm and dual 4 ohm voice coil options. Prodigy positions the NB5 line as a robust series built for stronger daily systems and higher power handling.
The motor design is one of the biggest reasons the NB5-15 stands out. Prodigy says this woofer uses a large inner pole and upper and lower Faraday shorting rings to help reduce distortion caused by inductance throughout cone movement. It also uses a 2.75" black aluminum voice coil with a very long winding width and high-temperature flat aluminum wire for stronger power handling and better control under load.
Prodigy also built this subwoofer with the kind of parts that help it hold up in real systems. The NB5-15 uses 280 ounces of ferrite motor force, a vented pole design, coil gap radial vents for faster heat removal, a heavy-duty cast aluminum frame, Nomex spiders with heavy stitched-in tinsel leads, a competition grade treated paper cone, carbon fiber dust cap, and a heavy-duty foam surround. The cast frame also helps dissipate heat as the motor warms up, which is a nice advantage for harder daily use.
Excursion is another major selling point here. Prodigy lists the NB5-15 with 27 mm of one-way Xmax at 70% BL, along with 40 mm forward X-mech and 50 mm downward X-mech clearance before soft parts contact hard parts. That gives this woofer the kind of movement and headroom shoppers expect from a serious 15" subwoofer built for stronger bass systems.
Fitment matters too when you are planning the enclosure correctly from the start. Prodigy lists the mounting depth at 9 3/4", cutout at 13 3/4", overall diameter at 16 1/8", and displacement at 0.24 ft3. They also include an enclosure design on the product page, which gives you a better starting point for box planning.
On the T/S side, Prodigy lists separate specs for both coil options. The NB5-15D2 is listed with Re 3.44, Fs 35.6, Vas 43.548, Qes 0.534, Qms 5.283, Qts 0.485, BL 27.33, Mms 422.32 g, Cms 41.623, sensitivity 88.22, and Xmax 27. The NB5-15D4 is listed with Re 6.088, Fs 34.93, Vas 47.197, Qes 0.593, Qms 5.595, Qts 0.536, BL 30.789, Mms 417.888 g, Cms 44.651, sensitivity 88.965, and Xmax 27.
Prodigy also promotes a 5-year discounted trade-in program, a 2 year warranty, and says subwoofers ship free by ground in the US48 states, which adds extra value around the product.
